Well since our good news last week, we've all gone to bed and woke up with smiles on our faces every day! I really think he feels better lately. He's got so much energy. He's always wanting to be entertained and even started playing with some of his toys! I always felt so bad for him, because I would put all these toys in front of him and he would just sit there and watch tv. He was never interested in anything beyond his hands. If he had a toy and dropped it, he never even attempted to get it back. And it was always hard to find toys he could play with because of the way his hands are, he can't grip most baby toys.
This weekend Josh's parents came down with his little brother and the twins. Both Joshua and Lucas had a blast! There was always someone around to entertain them. We put Lucas' valve on as soon as he woke up every morning and left it on until he went to bed at night. He did awesome! He's not bothered at all with the valve anymore. He even started babbling and hollering when trying to get our attention. It is so cute to hear him laugh out loud. I only got to hear that little whine for a month, so now I'm letting him cry a little longer just to listen. I'm gonna have a hard time adjusting to the piercing cry and not being able to take the valve off when we're in public. Oh well, we're used to people staring anyway.
Yesterday we went to WalMart and bought him an exersaucer. I was a little nervous, but he's doing great in it! He loves having all those toys at hand level, and is even holding his head up really well! He only lets it slip a bit when he's tired, but that's to be expected. He was even pushing up and down on those legs. Before you know it, he'll be ready for his walker! (Which we should have by the end of the summer.)
Well, this is probably going to be another long week. We're going to see the lung doctor again for the final ok to reschedule surgery, and hopefully we can do it next Monday. We're trying to get it scheduled as soon as possible, so when we get back from Tennessee, we can have that trach taken out! Man, to sleep at night and have it be silent in the house, not several machines running, we just can't wait!
